Never Enough (But He Is)
- Carissa Hjellming

Many of you are struggling in a world of “never enough”.
I see you. But more importantly, God sees you. You tired mamas of littles, working 24/7 at home all day-- "Mom, Mom, Mom . . ." It seems like that's all you hear. Day in and day out. The moms working outside the home, juggling the responsibilities of it all. The sandwich generation--caring for elderly parents while sending your adult kids off to college. Our seasoned women—sometimes feeling forgotten and alone. No longer feeling purposeful, yet you still have so much to give. The singles—often not invited because they don't have a partner. The widows who are grieving. The young women who have vitality and energy but maybe aren't taken as seriously.
The enemy comes to kill, steal, and destroy and he knows which tools to use. Social media can be a great tool in the right hands, but satan knows how to use this tool, also. Before long, you find yourself scrolling along and feeling like you no longer have enough. You see yourself differently. You're too large, too tall, too short, too skinny. Your clothes aren't right. You don't live in the right neighborhood. You don't drive the right car. You don't have enough friends . . . or the right friends.
Gals, comparison is the thief of joy. So, by using comparison, satan steals our joy. He destroys our self-esteem and before we know it, we find ourselves feeling as if we are not enough. NOT ENOUGH is a worldly view.
I want to remind you of the good news. We are Jesus Girls. We don't believe in a worldly view. We believe in a Kingdom mentality. If you have a Kingdom view, there is ALWAYS ENOUGH.
Remember when you were a child? Maybe you were lucky enough to have a birthday party. If you were, that was great! But then came the hard part. The invitation list--for most of us, we had a cut-off point.
I had a birthday party in grade school, and I was allowed to invite 4 girls. Just four. Those were some tough decisions. I am also a mom and gave my girls a cut-off number for their parties.
I have great news for you! In the Kingdom of God, we are all invited. God does not run out of resources. He doesn’t run out of party favors. We don’t need to share the inheritance. As believers in Jesus Christ, we each get the entire Heavenly inheritance. There is MORE than enough to go around—and then some!
It started that way.
Genesis 1:27 says, "So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them." In Chapter 2 verse 7 it goes on to say, "Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life. In verse 31 it says, "God saw all that he had made, and it was very good."
Did you hear that? He saw YOU. He created you, breathed the very breath of LIFE into you and called YOU very good!
We inhaled the very breath of God. It’s how we started. He created you, designed you, formed you in your mother’s womb. You are no accident. You may have come as a surprise to your mom and dad, but you weren’t a surprise to God.
So, what happened between then and now?
Life happened. We live in a fallen world. The enemy whispered lies to you and somewhere along the way you began to accept them as truth. A teacher made you feel less than. A spouse left. A child died. A disease crept in. You lost a job. You lost a friend. Somebody that was supposed to love you, didn’t. You were abused. You let your family down. You let yourself down. You got lost. There was a fire. There was an affair. There was pain.
Father God makes no mistakes. He declares you beautiful and holy and righteous, exactly the way he made you. You have such value that He sent his one and only Son to the cross for you. You are enough because He is enough. Jesus is your “enoughness”.
If you have been struggling with loving yourself, where have you been seeing your reflection? Are you seeking a worldly viewpoint? Are you only looking into a physical mirror? Or are you looking into the eyes of Jesus? Your true reflection and value will only be found when you seek His face, when you see your reflection through His eyes.
The truth is . . .
You are valued.
You are loved.
You are worth fighting for. You were worth dying for!
You are not alone.
You are more than enough.
God’s Spirit lives and breathes within you.
It’s time we stop with comparisons. Jesus Girls need to build one another up. We need to be happy for one another’s successes. In the Kingdom, there is enough success for all. There is enough joy for all. It isn’t a competition. We need to bring Heaven to earth. When we see one of our sisters in Christ struggling, we need to remind her who she is and whose she is.
In Revelations 12:11 it says, “They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.”
Ladies, this is how we overcome the enemy. The shame and the guilt you have been carrying isn’t yours to carry. Jesus nailed it to the cross. That voice your hearing isn’t God. It is the enemy trying to keep you tied to the past.
That thing that almost buried you is the very thing God will use to resurrect you. It is the word of your testimony, and it will bring others to Christ.
Step up and out. Rise up, daughters. Your faith has made you well. Remember who you were created to be and look to the future. Then shout, “Hallelujah”!
